I would like to introduce myself as the new principal of Staton Elementary School.  My name is Mrs. Marta (Marty) Gardner. I have more than 20 years of experience in the education field and have loved every position and opportunity.  I began my career as a kindergarten teacher in West Virginia where I was born and lived for 22 years.  After marrying my husband and moving to Las Vegas, I taught in the private school sector for two years and later became a teacher for the Clark County School District.  In addition to teaching various elementary positions, I served as a Learning Strategist, a Magnet School Theme Coordinator, a Teacher on Special Assignment for Academic Services, an Elementary Assistant Principal and a Northwest Region Administrative Assistant/Coordinator of K-12 Curriculum and Professional Development.

I envision the school and the community as full-time partners working collaboratively together to help all students become the best that they can be.  My goal this year at Staton Elementary School is to provide a safe, engaging and challenging environment that promotes academic achievement for all students. This will include the development of a rigorous and relevant curriculum through multiple strategies and sources while nurturing strong relationships between staff, students and parents.

It is an honor to be the principal of Staton Elementary School and look forward to a busy and successful year.
