WEBSITE UPDATES
During the summer break, the website will be updated monthly versus weekly.
Back-To-School Round Up August 22
We're finalizing all the details so please check back in early August but right now we're scheduled to have Round Up from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Friday, August 22. Thank you to many of you that turned in your registration information early! Anyone interested in helping during the Back-To-School Round Up should contact PTO President, Kellie Woods by email or by phone at 233-3714.
School Supply Lists
We'll have those posted the first week of July so please check back. Please remember that purchasing school supplies is not a requirement because the district supplies students with everything they need but some instructors may have special requests that you can chose to purchase or not.
Breakfast & Lunch Prices Have Increased
Beginning with the 2008-09 school year, breakfast will cost $1 and lunch will cost $1.50. Be sure to utilize the links on our Food Services page to add funds to your student's account or start a new account before school at the Round Up August 22nd.
"First Day of School" Photos
Plan ahead to take some photos on the first day of school and email them to us at: First Day Photos. Please include a note in your email that we have permission to post the photos on the website. No student names will appear in conjunction with images.
Staton HELP WANTED ADS
New opportunities will be posted before the beginning of school, and throughout the year.
A Message From The School District
PARENTS: We encourage you to keep the lines of communication flowing between home and school. To help facilitate that, the school district is providing the following document that addresses the best procedure to follow when you have a question or concern.

"Going Green" Next School Year
Please send us your email address
We’re building a database of Staton families to utilize an “email blast” system. We’re asking anyone that hasn’t already submitted their email address to the Staton directory to email it to: Christa Eagleton. Email addresses submitted will be kept private and not shared with outside sources. Next year, our goal is to offer your family the choice of receiving the newsletter electronically or traditionally, therefore cutting down on the amount of duplicate paperwork some families receive. We appreciate your support in reaching our goal!
Nevada Parent Network Website Launched
The site is brought to you by the Nevada Department of Education and includes explanations of the Nevada Standards, Skill-Building Activities for you and your child to do together, Everyday Activities to support your child's progress in school, and much more. A letter containing the username and password required to access the site will be sent home next year with each student. If you still have the information sent home during the 07-08 school year it still might work. Here is a link to the Nevada Parent Network website.
Accelerated Reading Program List
You'll find two great new links on the STUDENTS page including a link to our school's reading list and the "Just For Kids" section of the Clark County Library District's website. Fun stuff for all grades!
Should Your Child Be Reading in Kindergarten or First Grade? When Do Students Start Learning Multiplication?
Many parents inquire about "when" their child should be reaching certain educational benchmarks or what the standards are for our school district. The answers to those questions and many more can be found in this document: Guide For Benchmarks (Language Arts/Reading & Mathematics Grades K-5). We encourage you to print a copy of the pages that pertain to your child(ren) and discuss any questions you may have with your teacher(s).
