Please Join Us for Staton’s 2nd Annual Muffins for Mom Event
Friday, May 9 from 8-9 a.m.
In the Multi Purpose Room
Staton appreciates each of its wonderful, dedicated, hard-working Moms! Come relax, enjoy a muffin, juice and coffee – served up by our wonderful Staton Dads - and enter the raffle drawing for lots of great prizes! Have your picture taken by Exposures with your children, take it home the same day and enjoy the memory forever! There will be music, fun and a chance to help a hungry child.
Did you know that there are over 117,000 children in the Clark County School District, enough to fill the Thomas and Mack Center five times, who need help receiving regular, nutritious meals? That statistic alone is staggering enough, but when the bell rings at the end of the day on Friday, many of those children go hungry until school resumes on Monday morning. Three Square, the new food bank dedicated to ending hunger in Southern Nevada, has joined forces with our community to create the Back Pack Program. This program is designed to provide food for those children who might otherwise go without food during non-school hours. You can help by bringing any of the kid-friendly items listed below to the Muffins for Mom event: Pop-top single serving beans and franks and Vienna sausages, single serving cereal boxes, 8 oz. cartons of shelf-stable milk, 6.75 oz. juice boxes, fruit cups, pudding cups, granola and breakfast bars, cracker and cookie packs, sunflower seed packets, fruit snack packets and cutlery packs. If you have any questions, please call Angela Gunderson at 657-6981. Hope to see you all at Staton’s Muffins for Mom Event!

"Going Green" This Spring
Please send us your email address
We’re building a database of Staton families to utilize an “email blast” system. We’re asking anyone that hasn’t already submitted their email address to the Staton directory to email it to: Christa Eagleton. Email addresses submitted will be kept private and not shared with outside sources. Next year, our goal is to offer your family the choice of receiving the newsletter electronically or traditionally, therefore cutting down on the amount of duplicate paperwork some families receive. We appreciate your support in reaching our goal!

Should Your Child Be Reading in Kindergarten or First Grade? When Do Students Start Learning Multiplication?
Many parents inquire about "when" their child should be reaching certain educational benchmarks or what the standards are for our school district. The answers to those questions and many more can be found in this document: Guide For Benchmarks (Language Arts/Reading & Mathematics Grades K-5). We encourage you to print a copy of the pages that pertain to your child(ren) and discuss any questions you may have with your teacher(s).
